RACHEL'S PROJECT
My youngest daughter, Rachel, began work on her big project to graduate from high school over the summer. Her senior project topic is paranormal research. I think that her experiences in this house, and otherwise, inspired this. The project required at least 30 hours logged in work, a report, at least three contacts, an onsite visit with one of the contacts and a final presentation. All that remains are some corrections in the report and, of course, to do the presentation. She's worked hard and I am so proud of her accomplishments; we have both learned from the experience. The biggest thing for me was Rachel's onsite visit, on which I was lucky enough to be able to tag along. Her visit happened to be with a local writer, who is best known for his collection of local ghost stories. His name has locally been connected to the paranormal, for years, and he is a big idol of mine. Rachel's onsite visit turned into two onsite visits and I actually got to meet my idol not once, but twice!
This was an amazing experience for me and I owe it all to Rachel and her project.
Another great aspect about the whole project is the fact that an interest in the paranormal is something that Rachel and I share; it's given us something to focus on together and to talk about. As she grows older, I fear that she and I will drift apart. I think that our ghosts might keep us together, somehow.
PS: I occasionally recieve e-mails, asking if we still live in the same house and do we still experience activity? The answer to both of these questions is yes.
